the deal, in words you can actually read

These terms cover your use of Knight School at getgoodpeasant.com and its companion mobile app. Using the site means you agree to them. We have kept them short and in plain English on purpose.
Knight School takes chess games you have already played on Lichess or Chess.com, analyzes them, and builds practice out of your own mistakes. It is a training tool. It is not a place to play chess, and it is not a substitute for a coach.
Do not use Knight School during a live game. Every serious chess platform treats outside assistance during play as cheating, and it will get your account there banned. This site exists to study games that are already over. Using it any other way breaks these terms, and we will close your account for it.
Do not:
Your games are yours. They came from you, and nothing here changes that. You give us permission to store and analyze them so the product can work, and to show you the results.
Knight School is ours — the site, the app, the wordmark, the artwork, the writing, and the analysis engines behind it. You may use it; you may not copy it or pass it off as your own.
Share cards you generate are yours to post wherever you like.
We aim to keep the service up and correct, but we do not promise it will be either. Trials can change or be retired, analysis can be wrong, and the service is provided as is, without warranties. Its output is training material and study opinion — not a guarantee that your rating will move.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Knight School. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
You do not have to delete your account to stop paying. Cancel from Manage billing in The Keep and your account stays exactly as it is — your games, your history and your record all remain. You keep paid access until the end of the period you already paid for, then drop to the free tier. For most people this is the right choice, and it is reversible: you can subscribe again later and pick up where you left off.
Deleting your account is the heavier option, and it is separate (see Privacy). It is permanent.
Deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately, and you give up whatever is left of the period you already paid for. That is the one exception to the rule above, and it is deliberate: an account kept alive only to run out a subscription is not a deleted account. Before you confirm, we show you the date your subscription would have renewed — so if you would rather use what you paid for, you can cancel instead, wait until then, and delete afterwards. Choosing to delete does not earn a refund for the unused part.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, particularly the fair-play section. If we close yours without cause, we refund the unused part of what you paid.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and any dispute belongs in the courts located there.
If we change these terms we move the date at the top, and anything that materially affects you gets an email rather than a silent edit.
